Amusingly, these celebrities do not even speak the same language as the consumers they are pitching to. And yet foreign companies pay them a ton of cash to “vouch” for their products. Why? Because they understand the power of Social Proof. These Hollywood stars might be totally unfamiliar with the coffee or beer they are pitching. But simply having their smiling face on that billboard, holding up a product, carries a lot of weight with people. This is because humans are conditioned to BELIEVE people who they feel have higher status than they do.
